  • SAHM Challenges I Have Overcome To Stay At The Top Of The Game

SAHM Challenges I Have Overcome To Stay At The Top Of The Game

    Challenges I Have Overcome

Karma! I have always visualized it as a daughter-in-law in the patriarchal family setup or in our daily sops, so to speak. You ask me why? Because come what may, anything that happens in your household or life, Karma is to be blamed. Karma is that easy outlet to pin the failures, disappointments, and lack of motivation. While we are at it, Karma would play its role for not putting up enough effort to overcome the challenges that come our way. To stay at the top of the game, we have to be in charge of our life and the challenges I have overcome as an SAHM have been immense. But to stay at the top of the game I had to. How to overcome a challenge as an SAHM?

While battling PPD after my second delivery, I used to visualize myself as a helpless soul sunken in a pit of despair. The thought that I am wasting my life, by changing nappies, was ingrained in my mind. As a Stay at home mom, I was conditioned to think that my life’s purpose was to raise healthy kids and maintain my home. But six years down the line, the realization dawned on me that I cannot let my caliber go in vain and I could simultaneously do my job as a mother without fail. How did I overcome a challenge and start afresh by staying at home for six years? Here are the basic steps I took and they became key points in the challenges I have overcome.

    Recognise own’s worth

After spending years confined to home, my confidence had taken a hit. I believed that I lost my talent and perseverance. But when I decided to give life a second chance, I introspected and all I could think of was to write. I started writing poems again. Poems to short stories and finally a novel – when did my talent expand its horizon is still unknown to me.

If you are trying to resume your career, and are unsure where to start, you should start by noting down your strengths. While you enjoy your passion and convert it into a career. With social media at its hype, you can start by pitching for an online opportunity. There are numerous avenues out there. It’s all about where you look.

    Plan ahead

We must have a solid foolproof plan to get past the competitive world. This is where journaling and manifestation helps.

Challenges I have overcome - journaling

    Journaling

A journal is like your best friend. You can tell anything to a journal but when you talk to a journal make sure you address yourself with respect and positive ambitions. Note down your strengths and weaknesses. Point out your opportunities and challenges. Have multiple action plans as to how you are going to start because if something didn’t materialise, we should have something else to tap into. Search for opportunities that match your skill set.

    Manifestation

If there is something that I blindly believe, it is the power of the law of attraction. Manifesting, your goals, putting it on paper, doing gratitude journal and visualizing it while you work on your goal. The manifestation has been stated in one line but to put it into action intensive brainstorming and perseverance is a must.

    Talk to yourself

As weird as it sounds, talking to yourself gives you immense confidence, pushes you forward and instils a go getter attitude inside you. You might err in your process of getting back to your work regime but as a good friend, tell yourself where you faltered and how to rectify. A friend in need is a friend indeed. Be your best friend.

    Learn to say NO

However difficult it seems, the power of telling no cannot be replaced with any alternative. When opportunities knock at your door, don’t jump at the first call. Pursue your opportunities, weigh the pros and cons, meanwhile pitch into other possibilities. But immense care needs to be invested in saying No without offending anyone because we never know if we have to go back to them at any point.

    Share the load

The most foolish mistake that majority women make is to do everything themselves. Delegation is a virtue that you must master, be it a workspace or home. Ask your partner to share the load if you are the sole responsible one in the relationship. If you are single, modify your life to suit your career. If your kids are grown up, say 8 years and above, ask them to take responsibility for some household chores. The bottom line is that we should not be the only one responsible for the household.

Now that you know how to break the SAHM inertia, start from the basics first and slowly build the momentum. The challenges I have overcome might come across to you as something that every other woman faces. But the fact that it is common doesn’t make it light. You would be there but you might not realise because you are used to hearing ‘we have been through worse’. This is a sad reality that they all had it worse but shant we make it better for us?

  • How has Training in NLP helped me professionally and personally?

How has Training in NLP helped me professionally and personally?

When I started my wellness journey there was a lot of information. From Life Coaching to NLP to CBT, REBT, and more, I have never given myself a break in learning. As much as I enjoy learning and applying the principles that I knew, nothing came in handy than training in NLP. I urge to take this journey down the alley of words, thoughts, and beliefs.

    Training in NLP

    What is NLP?

NLP’s full form is Neuro Linguistic Programming. Neuro-Linguistic programming means rearranging and rewiring our thoughts and actions by organizing our thoughts, and behavior. It using submodalities, presuppositions, and meta-models, the practitioner creates a map of your mental process, using which they create a framework of our beliefs, values, and purposes. Knowing yourself and knowing the other person is the key to finding the solution. NLP helps in curing conditions like phobias, fear, anxiety, depression, etc.

    1. The 1,2,3 s of NLP are

    1. Action/ Reaction – The situation, or incident that is the source and trigger is the activating event. The action or reaction to the activating event is what brings the client to you in the first place.
    2. Beliefs/values – The framework of beliefs, values, and rules that keep them stuck in the problem at hand.
    3. Change – We can’t change people unless and until they are ready for the change. But we can be the contributor towards the change. Once they realize the beliefs and values behind the action/ reaction we help them change it.

    2. Meta models

By changing the language pattern we can’t rewire the thought process of the client as a practitioner. This is probably the key factor in my training in NLP that has the maximum impact on the client and myself. Changing the negative thought pattern to a positive one is the first part of the metamodel. From shouldn’t to should, mustn’t to must and it goes on. Another aspect that we need to address is the mindreading habit of the subject. Eg. he doesn’t like me, I know what you are talking about. These are some assumptions that humans reach without real proof but turn into beliefs. Another aspect is to make the client tell themselves to realize the cause of something that has come into effect.

Digging deeper into generalizations and preset beliefs is the basis of the meta-models and NLP at large. Anither aspect to address is complex equivalence. Eg. You don’t listen to me, so you don’t love me. Connecting two different aspects and reaching an assumption. Another aspect is presuppositions about how another person thinks and perceives. Another generalization aspect is universal quantifiers where we use words like never and always to explain someone’s behavior by generalizing it. The next aspect is nominalization wherein they use adverbs that nominalize the actual action. We shift the responsibility away and an NLP practitioner helps you to shift it back to the action and helps you take responsibility by bringing it back to the detail. The next step is to dive in and get the details of unspecified verbs. Like ‘hurt’ – he hurt me without telling “What exactly did he do”. So going in too with unspecified words like hurt, embarrassed, and disappointed is primary.

Training in NLP - women listening

Final and probably the most complicated aspect of NLP is simple deletions and comparative deletions. Eg: I’m fed up (fed up with what). She is better than me ( who is she and what is she better at.

    3. Association and Disassociation

While I was training in NLP, association, and disassociation is what helped me the most. This is the continuation of meta models. Associate the client with a negative emotion and then disassociate and ask them to see it from a third-person perspective like they are seeing it on a projector. With this practice, they see better and view the situation from a zoomed-out state. Then bring the ideal opposite like a calm and relaxed state.

    4. Anchoring

When you have a repeated trigger point, you anchor to it. Be it anger, sadness, or any negative emotion we anchor the trigger to it. A particular incident happens during your high emotional state and subconsciously, your brain relates to the particular incident with the emotion. The task of NLP practitioners is to create the anchor, stack it, and finally collapse it. Another practice is to create a positive emotional state, fully associate with it and anchor it to action. By repeating this you can use the anchor to collapse the anchor of negative emotion.

    Training in NLP - Anchoring

    5. Eliciting timelines and levels of consciousness

From blaming others for everything that happens in life, we switch to a level where we learn to take responsibility. Further, we change life on our terms. At last, we submit ourselves to the ultimate power. Is that it? No! This is just half of what NLP is all about in nutshell. Further, we deal with the clients, values, beliefs, and purposes, know more about them, and divert negative and defeating thoughts and beliefs into positive ones.

Training in NLP is a vast practice that helps in changing lives magically without medication. It is often considered as pseudo-science by conventional but the results of NLP practice are magic. I have experienced it myself and with my client. To know more about it you can sign up for our One-on-One Life Coaching sessions.

  • Girl, You Can Do Anything! Believe In Yourself

Are you hesitant? Do you find yourself plagued with indecisiveness in making ‘bold’ decisions? Do you fear being judged for your actions? To some extent, all people are victims of self-doubts or insecurities at different points in their lives. But these feelings are often more amplified in women. Right from our childhood, we are conditioned by our family and society to think, feel, and behave in a certain way. Our actions are under constant scrutiny. Even today, many of us are told to be good wives, mothers, daughters, or daughter-in-law and sacrifice our dreams for the sake of male family members. Worse, some women are expected not to have any dreams at all.
All of this means that as women, we are often shier and underconfident than our male brethren. We bottle up our thoughts and don’t speak our minds.0 We undermine our achievements and brush off compliments. Over a period, we stop believing in ourselves.
To believe in yourself requires a holistic strategy.

What you have in your minds is what we will achieve in your life. If you believe that you can and you can’t, you are correct in both cases! You need to have faith in your abilities and skills to achieve your ambitions. And self-belief can be practiced and developed with time. It entails falling in love with yourself, with all the experiences, personalities, and perspectives that make you unique. You are one of a kind in the world- there is no one else like you. You have an ‘unfair advantage’ over others and need to tap this to achieve success. Countless reams have been gone into the subject of overcoming shyness and gaining confidence. Here, I am putting forth some simple techniques to create ‘empowering’ beliefs that will boost your self-confidence.

8 Ways to believe in yourself:

Believe in yourself - Woman visualising

    1. Positive affirmation

Look into the mirror first thing after you get up every morning and say ‘I Am the Best’ aloud. Enthusiastically, repeat this affirmation at least ten times every day until it’s ingrained into your subconsciousness. Lock yourself in the bathroom, to begin with, if you are self-conscious. The results will amaze you.

    2. Me time

Take out the time to look your best and give yourself some space. Dress up more often, even when you are at home. Looking good will make you feel good, giving a boost to your self-confidence.

    3. Do one new thing every day

You can start small, like going out for a ten-minute walk alone or reading the newspaper after your husband finishes it. You are gradually moving outside your comfort zone by trying a new thing every day. The change will only make you grow, and you won’t even realize when you start taking up more arduous tasks.

    4. Engage in an activity or hobby that makes you feel relaxed

This could be anything from reading to music to gardening. Take some lessons or join some clubs. This will enlarge your social circle. Exploring things that excite you is a great antidote for shyness.

    5. Feed Your Mind with thoughts of what you want to achieve

Surround yourself with positive thoughts as a first step to believe in yourself. Watch documentaries about people who have overcome obstacles to achieve their goals. Read inspirational quotes and note down the ones that strike a chord with you. Self-educate yourself about new topics, like personal finance, that will help you reach your goals.

    6. Ask for advice

It is not a sign of weakness. Make a point to seek advice from others who have achieved goals similar to yours. Helping others and sharing advice make people feel good about themselves, and they would be happy to help.

    7. Build a healthy routine

You need to adopt different habits to achieve different results than you were getting till now. Consider building meditation, yoga, visualization, incantations, reading, or a combination of any or all of these into your daily life. Setting a new routine will enable you to recognize your inner power and set the tone for a confidence-filled day.

    8. If you are shy or conscious, let people know.

Many people, like me, find it difficult to follow a noisy conversation involving large groups of people. Be frank and directly convey to others that you are having difficulty. Others are more likely to invite you to join their conversation rather than leave you alone when you say so. People respect honesty and vulnerability.

    Conclusion

Replacing a limiting belief with an empowered one takes time and practice, but consistency will give you the desired results. Wake up feeling good about yourself, and nothing can come in between you and the world. As you believe in yourself, so you will become.

  • How To Turn Pain Into Positivity?

Pain is fearsome, be it physical or emotional. None of us want to deal with it because we believe that we are not capable of dealing with it. As a result, we try to keep ourselves busy and distracted so that we don’t have to think about the hurt it causes. As a result, the core source of the pain remains unattended and it remains sore. So, what should we do to enable us to deal with it? How to turn pain into positivity?

    Turn pain into positivity

    Turn pain into positivity:

There have been instances in my past when I have questioned my self-worth, questioned my choices, and succumbed to emotional hurt. Every time I tried to push it down the sewage by keeping myself busy and not letting myself think of it. It helps in a short-term relief but once the trigger is back, I am back to square 1. This was like a hamster loop which I struggled to come out of. Finally, I found the magical formula. Here is how to turn your pain into positivity.

How to turn pain into positivity

    1. Deal with the source of pain

If you are suffering from physical pain you can have several analgesics but emotional pain needs to be dealt with in a deeper perspective. Deal with it. Never try to stop thinking of it because the more you do, the more you get sucked into the whirlpool. The best way is to let yourself feel the emotions. Be with yourself and try to find out the triggers that give you the pain. If you are unable to think straight to find your trigger, never fail to take help.

    2. Find similar souls

    Turn pain into positivity

If we step out of India we can find numerous anonymous groups which help bring people with similar experiences together. Unfortunately, Indian society is still closed and has its window sealed towards opening up. Have you ever wondered why a common enemy binds you stronger than a common friend? Because in such cases you share the pain. Similarly finding people who share the pain. Make sure not to fall into any traps in this process.

    3. Journal your feelings

    journaling

Feelings have a strange way of getting mutated once laid out. Journaling your thoughts have the same effect as sharing it with someone. You can see for yourself how you are dealing with your feelings the right way. Do not try to have a structure for this. You are not writing a blog post or a book. You are sharing your feelings with yourself. It is your mirror. If you lost someone, tell them how much they mean to you. Tell how you could let yourself deal with the loss. You can be your counselor.

    4. Explore your passion

You might be good at something. Reading, writing, singing, gardening, drawing, cooking, or even cleaning your house. Try to find creative ways in doing what you love the most. For me, my blog was the outlet but at some point it became stagnant and I could not think and write. I took a break and did nothing for one month. I took multiple breaks from my social media just to make me figure it out. Now I have the answer to the questions. Once I am back I redesigned my blog, started doing digital marketing for budding women entrepreneurs. These and a few more ventures are in place and I am back with a bang. There are several surprises coming up. They will be shared soon…

    5. Meditate and exercise

Turn pain into positivity - meditate

Meditation and exercise are all healers. They have the power of controlling letting yourself controlling your mind in ways that you have never expected. Start meditating and exercising.

    6. Analyse your weekly progress

Check your progress every week and see how much you have progressed from where you started. You will be surprised to see a new you smiling. But no! don’t give up, keep on trying and continue what you have been doing.

What more to say, you have learned to turn your pain into positivity. If despite all this you are not able to help yourself, never hesitate to take help because talking help is the best gift you can give yourself at times ultimate peace of mind. Till we meet next time stay happy stay positive.

  • The Ultimate Peace of Mind Quote That I Live By

We are living in a fast-moving and competitive world where living in peace would be a luxury for many. The surge of social media and the unprecedented upsurge of screentime has considerably reduced the eye-to-eye contact between couples and families at large. Result! Dissatisfaction, sadness, and the feeling of nothingness. This is what I have been going through for a while, The feeling of having nothing when you have everything. The feeling of not knowing what I want and would give me happiness. My venturing into Holistic wellness was to find an answer to this dilemma. Months of pursuance later, I identified my source of peace and happiness and have started my baby steps into it. I formulated my own ultimate peace of mind quote which I follow diligently and live by without fail.

    Being happy

My ultimate peace of mind quote

So, I was trying to figure out my triggers. There were too many but identifying them was my first step of success. Now I have to eliminate my trigger and identify that which pushes me through. That was my mantra of peace. My own peace of mind quote.

Morning coffee, soothing music, sweet nothings with kids, yoga, meditation, my lavender oil, movie time with my partner, reading, writing to the soul’s satisfaction, watching the beauty of nature – I found my source of peace in silliest things and I learned that it is so easy to be happy.

    These are my powerhouses.

    Morning coffee

Peace of mind quote - Morning coffee

Coffee and caffeine have always been blamed for spoiled sleep, deteriorating energy, hyper activeness in kids. But of late even scientists are in two minds about the authenticity of these findings. Let me tell you my experience. When I was attending the Health Coach certification course, I was apprehensive about whether I would be able to live up to it as my belief that certain food items that were blamed to be bad, were indeed good, would receive a setback. But SURPRISE! The academy where I took certification from, strongly believed in what others don’t believe. Surprisingly, for me, they concurred with my belief that coconut oil is not bad for health. Likewise, coffee is also not to blame.

I have been regularly having sugarless black coffee for two years and the level of calmness that it gave me is unbelievable

Don’t ask me the reason. Because genuinely I don’t know nor do the scores of scientists around the world.

    Music Therapy

Music is therapeutic. There is no argument but the kind of music that could give you peace could be different. Know what gives you immense happiness and choose the music that goes with it. For me, it is the slokas and mantras. It could be some soothing music or rock music or folks songs. Listening to what you like is indeed therapy.

    Quality time with kids

I am not someone who falls under the “perfect mother” category. I don’t create specific activities, educational or entertainment. Well, with three kids of 2-3 years age difference the need for quality time with mother is menial, or so I believe, Nonetheless, I have my time with my kids when I play ‘stone, paper, scissors, watch Blackpink videos’ or any such seemingly stupid activities for I am a mother who has not grown beyond a teenager when it comes to my kids. I fight with them for ice creams too!

My quality time with kids are punctuated by the silly games and not the quality that you might visualise

But yours could be different and I respect that just like you would mine. And thus, this silly time becomes a part of my therapy and becomes an important part of my peace of mind quote.

    Yoga and meditation

Being a certified Yoga instructor and a Yoga enthusiast, Yoga is my definition of prayer. I don’t do it for weight loss. My Yoga journey is the extension of my Holistic Wellness journey. While I hold each poses I have a vision that I hold strong in mind. Amidst the ruckus created by kids, I created a mansion of peace. While meditating I used to alternate ‘Om Chanting’ and the Buddhist chant ‘Nam Yoho Renge Kyo’. If you don’t want the religious connotation, you can chat ‘aaaa’ as in Hindi ‘oooooh’ and ‘maaaa’ which resonates the same way. Meditation is naturally a part of any peace of mind quote that you come across for the amount of calmness that it provides.

    Lavender oil

You might have seen the funny Whatsapp where a mother is lying down on a bed of lavender to relieve her stress. Jokes apart, lavender indeed has therapeutic power. Aromatherapy being an inherent part of my wellness sessions, I am applying this myself in my life. I put one or two drops of lavender essential oil in my body wash, shampoo, conditioner, lotions, and everything.

If you want to try this yourself, the buying link is given above or if you have a brand preference, you can buy the Juicy Chemistry Lavender Oil from Woovly and avail 25% discount by using the code RAKHI 25.

Movie/ webseries time with my partner

Peace of mind quotes - Movie time

If Netflix and Prime video have spoiled relations and aggravated the screen time, it has brought me closer to my husband. We watched numerous movies and web series together. When our tastes don’t match, I would sit with him reading while he would watch. Whatsoever the one hour of proximity was never compromised and it worked wonders in our relationship and my peace and wellness. I had written about this earlier in my post How to overcome libido postpartum.

    Reading and writing

Reading and writing were reserved to the last part of my peace of mind quote but the therapeutic effect they have on me is primary. I can ignore everything to read and write and still be happy. When my reading and writing took a back seat, unknowingly I was falling into a pit of despair. Slowly I got back into my writing and believe that I would be able to pursue it consistently.

    Nature therapy

    Nature therapy

Nature has an unfathomable influence on my mind. Maybe because of growing up amidst the greenery, I never realized how special it was and how lucky I was to have the ultimate peace mantra around me, day in day out. The moment I realized it, I started indulging in the green bed of happiness and the colorful butterflies and musical birds that adorn our lives.

All these are more contributed to my wellness journey. It doesn’t mean that I never felt angry or sad. I did but whenever I felt so, I knew in my heart that it is not permanent. Living by my own ultimate peace of mind quote has redefined my journey of life and in turn, changed my family as well. More on it coming soon.

  • Why Should We Wakeup by The Right Side in the Morning?

In the last post, we saw the morning routine for holistic wellness. Now you know what to do after waking up but do you know how to wake up. Or, precisely speaking which side to wake up? You might know that you should wake up by the right side. But do you know why the right side is considered ‘the right side’?

Which side to wake up in the morning and why?

It is advisable to wake up on the right side in the morning. This is because the right side is the most stable and hence probably considered right as per various religious beliefs or probably called right. Apart from these, there are several scientific reasons behind this belief.

    Yoga beliefs

Yoga gurus strongly believe that the right side of the body emanates energy. The right side indicates sun in Hatha Yoga which in turn indicates strength and positive energy. Thus it is believed that waking up by the right side energizes your body.

The pingala nadi that corresponds to the sun’s power is situated on the right side of the body. Hence waking up through the right side of the body activates the Pingala Nadi and hence energizes your body.

    Pingala Nadi

Pingala Nadi is where our pranic energy originates from. Panic energy is the life force/prana. It is also called sun nadi because it represents solar energy. It passes through the seven chakras of our body. The free-flowing energy of the Pingala Nadi enables us to do physical exercise as it provides us immense energy. Hence waking up by the right side of the brain helps in the free flow of energy through the body as the Pingala Nadi is activated.

To know more, one should learn about panic energy and the chakras of the body.

In simple language, why should we wake up by the right side?

In simple language, it can be explained as there are two magnetic fields in our body. One that passes through the left and one through the right. The magnetic field that passes through the right side of the body helps In providing the energy.

In short, the explanations could be yogic, ayurvedic, or scientific, it has been proven that waking up by the right side of the body provides you with energy in the morning that helps you in performing your daily activities effectively and energizes your brain as well.
