  • NatureSure Thumba Wonder Hair Oil – Review

Thumba oil is a traditional ayurvedic medicine that is used for hair growth. Studies prove that it has been helpful in stimulating the hair follicles.

Thumba is not the plant that is used during Onam by Malayalis. The scientific name of Thumba in the Thumba oil is Citrullus Colocynthis also known as bitter apple.

    Naturesure Thumba Oil

Naturesure is the only brand that produces Thumba Oil, as far as I know. It is a mix of herbs that enhances hair growth. The company claim is that it prevents premature greying and reverse the signs of alopecia and baldness along with increasing hair count and hair length.

    Packaging

The oil is packaged in 110 ml plastic bottles. Despite the fact that plastic is not eco-friendly, we have to accept that it is the most feasible material to pack oil and hence we can ignore it.

The packaging is compact, travel friendly and professional.

    First Impression

The oil is a quintessential Ayurvedic oil with golden brown colour, semi-transparent and mildly thick consistency.

The fragrance of the oil is not very pleasing and that’s the only drawback I could see. But we have to accept the fact that none of the authentic Ayurvedic concoctions have pleasant fragrance.

    Directions

The oil need to be massaged to your scalp and left as such for fifteen minutes and washed off with mild shampoo. The oil is recommended to be used daily for faster results. I have tried it during lockdown and hence I could easily use it without worrying about my hair looking oily.

If you are a working person, it is better to use it twice or thrice a week and more so mixed with an oil with artificial fragrance or any essential oils.

    Verdict

The results that the oil delivers is a guarantee from my end. On a personal front, I cannot vouch on the prevention of premature greying and baldness. But indeed the oil helps in hair growth. I did smoothen my hair and hence it was easier to track the hair growth. I used it along with essential oils with fragrance. I’m not very sure if it’s visible in the pictures but the baby hairs are the pro

  • Sculpt your confidence with the right workout

Self-love is never possible if you don’t love your body and your skin. You might have dark or fair skin, dry, oily or combination skin, skinny or plump body but still you can look your best. Your best look has nothing to do with your skin type or body type. Notwithstanding which category you belong to, you can look the best. You can revive your confidence. Are you ready to boost your confidence so much that you look the best ever?

Looking good is never reserved to skin care. Exercise can do wonders to your body and skin. But quite often we are not able to reach a conclusion as to which is the best exercise for you. To know that you should know your body type first.

Earlier all I knew was about Pear Shaped🍐 , Apple Shaped🍎, and hourglass⌛. Then a wider version of this came by the names inverted triangle 🔽, triangle🔼, rectangle⏹️ and the perfect hour glass⌛.

But the latest are Ectomorphs, Endomorphs and Mesomorphs.

    Ectomorphs

Ectomorphs are considered the luckiest. The so called ones who can eat anything and not gain weight. Apparently those who are inherently Ectomorphs hate their body type. Grass is always green on the other side.

    Endomorphs

Endomorphs are the ones who metaphorically gain weight by drinking water. They are the unlucky ones who do everything in their possibility to gain weight but fails miserably.

    Mesomorphs

Mesomorphs are the muscular ones. Their body will be toned and tends to develop muscles.

I have been an Ectomorph all my life and post delivery dramatically transformed into an Ectomorph. Hormones are often blamed. Now we will see what I did to tame my body and skin together.

The tips and information I share are applicable for healthy women, who don’t have any serious health issues and those are the exercises and methods that are personally tried by me and not a sponsored post.

I have tried three exercise methods. All three were tried at home.

    1. Dance

I have never been an acclaimed dancer. I have learned dance while in school and somewhere I missed the passion. But enrolling my daughter was a opening for me as well. I rejoined the dance class and what better exercise can I have. It’s an exercise for by body and soul.

You need not be a trained dancer. You can get several dance videos online and there are numerous Apps that provide exercise with dance or Zumba or anything of such sort.

    2. Yoga

I started Yoga after my third delivery. When I started having ENT issues and doctor diagnosed me with fibromyalgia I had to do something to destress myself and Yoga was my exit route. It helped me revive my skin, psyche and above all my soul. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration if I say that a month after I started off, I was glowing from within. I started getting the feel of the Yoga Skin. My ENT issues, pain, numbness, everything vanished into thin air and I started feeling alive.

    3. Workout challenges

There are numerous Apps that provide workout challenges. Like 30 days workout challenge, ABS workout challenge etc. It was like a competition. And it was fun to meet those challenges.

These were my workout regimes and I swear by them. Post lockdown, there have been a few hindrances to these workout programs. I do them for two days and skip for two weeks. I haven’t been able to maintain the consistency. But last two weeks have been crazy. And I’m back in action.

WHICH IS YOUR WORKOUT REGIME?ARE YOU INTERESTED IN JOINING ME IN MINE?

  • Lockdown and housewives

Housewives is an outdated term. More fancy word would be homemaker though the life they live is just the same. It might have improved over the period of time due to the upsurge of electronic equipments and facilities. But does their life change? I have been mulling over this topic for sometime when my daughter told me that she wanted to be a homemaker and somehow I was not happy. There is no other better time for this post as it is lockdown and everyone is having a chance to have a first hand witnessing experience of a homemaker’s life. Atleast 60% of the judgemental world, which include men and working women, would understand that “simply sitting at home” is not easy, that lack of social life is frustrating, that living a life of a proverbial frog in the well is humiliating, being called jobless is unfair and holding it together amidst judgement is disheartening.

Coincidentally, I watched two women centric movies back to back. They are more homemaker centric. Panga and Thappad. This is not a review of the movies but they need to be referred here so as to put forward the point.

Thappad and Panga. photo courtesy, imdb.com

The life portrayed and the message conveyed by the movies are similiar like the actresses who have stark similarity in their looks. While Panga sketches the life of an ex Kabaddi player who left her passion to take care of her son, Thappad tells the life of a woman who left her passion for dance to take care of her husband and mother in law. While Kangana’s character did all household jobs and managed her railway job, she is blessed with a husband who takes care of her and understands her. But Thappad is a whole different tale on that front. I might be the only woman who opposes the message conveyed by the movie.

While I second the argument that slapping is not done in a relationship, a slap being counted as a reason for divorce is immature. Nonetheless the screenplay justifies the protagonist’s actions by developing the circumstances where her husband is proved at fault. I wonder why the movie was promoted as a mere message against slap. From my perspective, Taapsee’s character is unjustifiable from the moment she decided to be a mere homemaker just because her mother told her to be. In the current scenario keeping one’s desires aside and brushing it under the carpet is not so done. If one should take home anything from the movie, that’s the message that never compromise on your passion.

While Kangana’s character in Panga has all the right reasons to choose her family over her passion and later go back to her life. Taapsee’s character is shrunk down to a name sake feminist, for the sake of being tagged a feministic movie. All the male characters expect Taapsee’s father are chauvinists in the movie.

Now, coming to our real life homemakers. The message one should take home is not that a single slap should end up in divorce. Communicate well with your spouse but don’t be silent to domestic, emotional and psychological abuse. Realise them and work on them.

Girls, there is nothing wrong to be a homemaker. Being a homemaker doesn’t make you jobless. Find your passion. Pursue it. Use this lockdown to prove that you’re not “simply sitting at home”. Let this be a blessing in disguise. Let’s see more passionate home makers after the lockdown. Identify your passion and develop it.

  • Caring yourself during lockdown #Selflove

We are living in an unprecedented situation. No-one clearly knows how to deal with this since we don’t have any clear instructions. Even after a month and more of lockdown, we are still stuck with new positive cases and even doubt a community spread of the pandemic. Now we no longer have the time and energy to think about toxic personalities in our live,to self loath, to bring any more negativity as we have enough and more in our plate.

Well, let’s put it this way. We are slowly becoming an endangered species if not dealt with. Clearly, we haven’t reached that far but we cannot say for sure that it’s an impossible situation. Because, mortality of 25k a month back has risen to two lakhs now. But today my idea is not to scare you about this impending doom or anything for that matter. Our topic has always been #SelfLove.

Staying at home brings many possibilities for you. To connect with your family, to care for yourself, to find your passion and many more.

    Movies and Web Series

I can seen a frown on many faces after reading the heading. But trust me. It’s not as far fetched a method as it seems. You just need to control the hours you binge watch lest you disconnect with family than connect with them. Not always eveyone likes the same movie or webseries. You can grab your favourite book and lie beside your partner if he/ she is watching something that you don’t like. The basic idea is to connect with them. Entertainment media has this strange influence on the current generation that it could do wonders in relationships. Just make sure of proximity even if you are watching two different shows. What are earpieces for!

    Quality Time

Reserve some time for your kids and play with them, dance with them, or do something crazy with them. Make sure you reserve atleast an hour if not more for your loved ones. This is the best opportunity for you to give all the love and recuperate everything that has gone south. Even if they are your teenagers, spend time with them and make sure they understand it too.

    Skin care and Health care

Skin care might seem a far fetched thing to be in this post but trust me, it is important for your psyche. You can care yourself by some simple tricks. If you are a green tea person, keep the tea bag over your eyes once it is cold and feel the cooling. All hypermarkets and drugstores remain open. Hence it wouldn’t be tough to get the product for skin care. I will be sharing the skin care ideas in my next post.

    Make use of the technology

It is most important you use the technology at your hand to awake the brain cells and do anything that is awakening for you and your family at large. Do some crafts with your kids, cook with your husband, discuss news with your parents, read, watch and listen.

    Me time

Reserving time for yourself is something that we always take for granted. More so during lockdown since your whole family would be around you. Wake up a little early or sleep a little late ( which won’t be feasible as these days everyone has become nocturnal) and be with yourself. Giving some time for yourself can be unbelievably rejuvenating. But you need to promise yourself not to indulge in your problems, or your past or anything negative for that matter. Keep your gadgets away. Me time means you and your soul only.

    Exercise

Exercise is the most important during lockdown. Everyone of you might have seen the memes wherein a couple is discussing how to get out of the front door as they have gained so much weight tht they couldn’t squeeze out of the door. Without any gym, or other extra activities, chances are there that you would gain weight without realising. Exercise is not only about weightloss. It’s also about holistic development. Burn a few calories and burn off the negativities along with it. You can do anything from yoga to a few floor exercises. You could take the help of Google to see what helps or I will help in the further posts.

These are not all. These are only a few methods that could help you love yourself and stay happy and sane for that matter. Try them and let me know. Do you have any other secrets that help you love yourself?

  • Happines should not be a burden #SelfLove #BlogchatterA2Z

You have every right to be happy. We have been talking about how to be happy and how to love yourself. But haven’t you thought why you need to be happy. What’s wrong with being sad once in a while? Have you ever thought about enjoying your sadness? If you are into a creative profession, you would understand it. That you will be at your creative best while you are sad. Sorrow has a mysterious power to stimulate your brain to see and think that which you would never be able to, if you are happy and satisfied.

It is upto you as to how you need to perceive it. You can either deteriorate in your sadness or you can exploit your sadness for your productive best. Let your brain go to the realms that were never exploited and ignite the power of your thoughts. We have heard about people using different sorts of intoxications to be their creative best. Likewise you can use your sorrow as an intoxication. Sounds insane? Yes it is. It is an insane thought to make use of your sorrow and what’s more ironic is that once you learnt the magic whatever we have been discussing earlier would fall into place.

Dive into your sorrow and find the pearl of wisdom that lies deep inside.

  • Give yourself some space #A2ZChallenge2020 #SelfLove

All this while we were discussing about facing the problems that come our way, and dealing with them and dealing with your own mind. So, what if there are no problems in your life? Or even if you are going through the worst space, don’t you deserve a break.

Take a break from everything. Give yourself space from everything. Stay in a space of vaccum without any thoughts. Without actually thinking about how to deal with it. Just a vaccum space without anything. It is difficult to reach that space because not always does we stop thinking. Just don’t do anything but remain in that space. It gives you an idea as to how to take off from there. It will give you clarity of thoughts. It will tell you whether you should start afresh or push through it.

The more your try to remain free of thoughts, the more thoughts cloud your mind. Hence it is not possible to reach there in a day. It takes days, weeks or may be months but don’t lose heart. And once you reach there, don’t stay there forever. It is like a therapy. Practice it one step at a time.

  • Excavate your Passion #A2AChallenge2020 #SelfLove

To tell someone to forget the past, to move on and concentrate on yourself is easy but on a practical ground, it is equally tough. It seems impossible at some point and all you would care about is how it is going to affect your image, future and character at large. The first thought in your mind would be that your enemy would be happy to hear your bad news. In short, your thoughts are clouded by someone else’s happiness rather than your own sadness.

To keep your thoughts away from all these, you need to get yourself engaged. No, you are wrong. I didn’t mean hobby. I meant passion. We watch movies, listen to music, read books etc. These are all our shortcuts out of the trauma but seldom do we realise that after the first 9 or 10 minutes your mind would disconnect from your body and starts going back to the epicenter of problems. After a while only we would realize that we have not been successful in this diversion. This is because all these hobbies mentioned are for the entertainment of the senses but whay we apparently need is not entertainment but the truth is that we need to engage our brain and start doing that which make use of the brain and we would be busy with it. It is the best therapy for us.

Recognising your passion is important. That which interests one might not be interesting for other. That which doesn’t seem interesting might indeed be your hidden passion. For instance, I have never counted cooking interesting. I have always been all about books. But at some circumstances I had to wear the chef’s cap. A few cuisine experiments and I realised that I love cooking. Since then, whenever I feel dejected, I cook. The best therapy for me.

Try doing everything possible and see what gives you real happiness and complete satisfaction. Thus excavate your passion and nurture it so that it will keep your brain busy and you no longer have time for processing negativity.

  • Drink a Cup of Positivity- The magic potion

Be positive, power of positivity, think positive, stay postive- Positivity has been the most trending hashtag in social media of late. We all want to stay positive and keep negativity at bay. Is that so easy? Well, no. The more you try to remain positive, the more you will face difficulties and find it difficult to keep up with it. Once to go down the road of positivity, our expectations would be higher. “I have decided to be positive. Everything would be good from now onwards.”

Then comes someone or something which pulls you down to where you started off. All the positive energy you have imbibed would seem to vanish. You will start losing your self worth, the confidence and evetything falls apart. This is the time to drink the cup of positiveTea. Close your eyes and shut out the world from even your mind. The negative thoughts will try to peep in. Always keep your guard up and the moment negative thoughts come to you, tell yourself to keep quiet. It’s the silence of your mind that is important, not the surroundings.

The cup of positivity is not any magic potion. It is your mind itself. How you tame your mind is important. Not entertaining things that affect you is the most important. Your phone has a block button. Use it wisely. Don’t use it to show your superiority but use it to silence your mind. Block the people who are affecting your sanity, the toxic people in your life. More about toxic people would be given in the future posts.

Now where you stand, you have learned to silence your mind, to shut our negative thoughts and wade through negativity. But something that you think you have achieved might not be that which you have fathomed. The phase that you are in, will change and more troubles would come your way. Your job is to be proactive. Tell yourself that it is not the end. It will come up again or something else would come up but you should never stop drinking the cup of positivity
