  • The micturition trauma

Inequality between a man and a woman begins with micturition (simply called urination). When man can simply stand and bid adieu to the unwanted debris a woman has to sit. When man can simply do the honours behind the shades of a tree (some don’t want it even. They just pee by the side of national highway), woman has to practice the kegels exercise from the moment she is free of diaper. When man doesn’t have to care much about the cleanliness of the toilet, a woman thinks thousand times since her skin is actually touching the material. It’s a disgusting feeling trust me. Things get worse while travelling.

These days we can hear heated debates on whether 50% reservation for women is fair or not. Some say that it is needed to bring the downtrodden gender to the forefront. Some says, the smart ones will come up with or without reservation. Let the debates continue. Meanwhile please take a look into the core issue faced by women. Please don’t forget the fact that peeing is always an issue for women with or without reservation. Many refrain from drinking water in this fear and end up having UTI

We can teach our boys to respect women. We can teach our girls to defend themselves. But how can we teach them to control the basic necessity of a human being? Even graver is the situation of transgender. While women have toilet in malls, hospitals, offices and similar places, the third gender  (I don’t know if it’s unethical to call them that way) don’t have any. Where do they go? To gents toilet or to the ladies toilet.

Debate about reservation at your will but meanwhile take a look into this core issue. While spending crores of rupees for infrastructure, just think about building public toilets. You want to collect toll? Go ahead but let us free of the trauma.

  • Oru Muthashi Gadha – Loving Your Grandparents

There was a time when kids grew up hearing stories and folk songs from grandparents. The kids who grew up with grandparents were always invariably attached to them. They grew up religious, they used to respect their elders, and grew up as kids. Nowadays electronic gadgets took up the job of story telling; Respecting the elders became not so cool.

I was recently part of a conversation between three mothers.

Mother 1: Do you stay with your in-laws?

    Mother 2: No way.

Mother 1: Lucky you. You can bring up your kids the way you want.

Mother 2: It’s not like that dear. You are lucky actually. Your kids get to feel the love of their grandparents. That is priceless.

Mother 1: (Made a face and turned to me) What about you?

Me : I stay in an extended family

Mother 1: No wonder you thought of having a third kid.

It was my turn to make faces.

Is it your luck or not to grow up with your grandparents is all up to you. But growing up with their grandparents or at least spending time with them never made a child ineligible. Why I came up with this topic all of a sudden? I saw the movie ‘Oru Muthashi Gadha’. Though the director did not grow up to the benchmark set himself, the storyline covered up all the cons of depiction. Needless to say, Rajini Chaney and Bhagyalakshmi stole the show and rocked the silver screen. There has been a surge of so-called New Gen movies these days, wherein Grandparents were invisible. So were parents, for that matter.

The movie will force you to look back to your grandparents’ life and wishes. Creating a wishlist for your grandpa may not be an idea that comes to everyone’s mind nor teaching them the latest gadgets. I could connect to the character of Leela since she reminded me of my granny in terms of smartness. She used to ride a pillion on a two-wheeler till she was 75. Yes, we get old but they don’t.

Next time you see your child being fed chocolate or any other restricted items please don’t prevent it. This tiny naughtiness is all part of life and will let them live young forever. I wouldn’t count myself as a good grandchild but I am sure my kids will be.

I dedicate this post and Oru Muthashi Gadha to Balakrishnan Nair, Rema, Anilkumar, and Geetha four wonderful grandparents.

Also to my and my better half’s paternal and maternal grandparents. I hereby pledge that I will make my kids be what I was not to my grandparents.

  • Pardon us Soumya, we are helpless

Pardon us Soumya, we are helpless

I am writing this post with tears in my eyes. Being a mother, I can’t remain unmoved by what is one of the quintessential examples of injustice. Soumya’s mother’s wailing still echoes in my ears.
Well, what should we assume with today’s judgment? There was evidence for cruel rape but not for murder. Seriously? She died the same night and still, we need bloody evidence. And what else, this is not the rarest of the rare case. Okay, so from today onwards a group of perverts set out for a rape and murder spree. In a year, however brutal the crime be, it will no longer be a rarity.

Let’s start teaching our children to cooperate if someone tries to molest them. Pun intended this time. At least we will have them with us, with or without self-respect. I have always beamed in pride at my country and its cultural heritage. But now it is a land with the law but no justice, culture but no humanity, activists but no action. Now law means Lechers Are Welcome. Jai Hind

  • AnAnother Nirbhaya: How many more will be there

AnAnother Nirbhaya: How many more will be there

The pain inflicted by Jyothi Singh’s predicament is still subsisting in the hearts of every Indian with even an ounce of humanity. After mulling over the reasons and reasoning, we concluded that girls should not go out of the safety of their houses at night. They should remain at home after the safety of sunlight leaves them. Girls should not have boy friends or friends who are boys for that matter. Nor should they go out with them. Oh yes, they should not fight back when they are being raped? Isn’t that the valuable cosmic law taught by the Great Rapist? Had she co-operated, we wouldn’t have been cruel? Huh!!!

Well abiding by these rules, did anything change. A girl was brutally murdered and raped in daylight in her own house. So what rules applies here? What was her mistake? How could she handle a man or a living being who raped her corpse. Not even animals do such a heinous and repugnant act. So what cultural lesson should we give our kids?

I always opined that we should teach our boys to respect women. We should train them from childhood. But, what happened in Attingal proved that all these are pure B**l S*iT. My so called behavioural knowledge was shattered by this incident. Nino Mathew was the Son of a highly self righteous father, who kept on advising him to stay away from sin, a father who stood by the wronged without even a second thought. His paramour was also not different. I would not prefer calling her name. These sort of women should be called by the name Attingal woman, Twin murder woman. Not the victims.

It has been a regular practice to go after the immigrant workers while investigating a crime. Perumbavoor being a hub of immigrants, it is quite natural to point the suspicious fingers towards them. We are forgetting two factors-
    1. If the immigrant workers are the reason for all the crimes, how  can we stop them. Both men and women from North-eastern part of India have been exploited and stamped as delinquent, irrespective of their education or pedigree. Tagged by the pet name ‘Harries‘ they are not given solace in even the most coveted educational institution. So it is that, the conditions of unskilled laborers are far from human, and hence the inhuman acts from them. They smuggle weeds and similar intoxicants without any constraints, usage of which make them incorrigible. Are we doing anything to improve their living conditions? Oh he is Bihari. He can work in any condition. They are all of a different make. They are subjected to live like animals that they don’t find any difference between human and animals. The so called labour unions and associations do nothing for their betterment.

    2. Keeping the shadow of the incorrigible immigrant workers, innumerable crimes are being done. Poor living condition or financial instability is not the reason why Attingal Twin Murder happened. It was pure lust and quasi-respect from the society.

So what is the solution for all this? No action has been taken regarding the analysis of the real reason behind every crime.

The saddest part is to witness the political jugglery related to such incidents. Why this shoddy show? To gain votes! Sorry we are way beyond this. So please stop blaming each other and use your so called investigative commissions to study the deteriorating human values. Citizens would happily shower their tax money to implement the measures to assure safety for their daughters and sons! Yes, our sons are also in danger. If someone can fornicate a corpse or even an animal, will he find a difference between man and woman, boy and a girls and worse of all infant and grown up?

So, please stop blaming each other and coonducting useless talk shows, start acting.
    PS:: Can we implement castration?

  • In which angle does he look like a child

So the monster is out. The day when a group of minor boys set out to rape girls since they won’t get much punishment seems to be near. I have a daughter. I cannot think of bringing her up in this scenario.
The monster is taken to a secret place to ensure his safety. He is fed with our tax money!
    Seriously??
We have heard of our girls being raped mercilessly by zamindars and British officers. Is the situation different now? Why did we gain independence? To lock up our girls inside?
I am planning to move some other country where these sort of atrocities are given the deserved punishment
Footnote: If he can rape a girl, it means that he is biologically grown up. The how could we consider him as a child. If two lovers kiss in public, moral polices thrash them. If one rape a girl he goes Scot free. What a contorted justice.
I am doing what ever possible

Here is the link to petition for passing Juvenile Justice Amendment Act as soon as possible, instead of waiting for the next incident

The Juvenile Justice Amendment Act passed by the Lok Sabha and pending before the Rajya Sabha needs to be debated and passed immediately to ensure that…

  • Sight seeing at flood spot

The phone rang like it is banging it’s own head to the wall, unable to bear the words to be delivered through it.

“How will I prevent this vile practice?” the phone wailed.

He picked up the call in enthusiasm. ” I’m game. I have been waiting for your call for an hour. What else is here to entertain us these days! Okay I will wait in front of my gate.” Saying thus, he kept the phone in the cradle but it created incessant squeaking noise that he whacked it.  He jumped out of his house and waited in the front of his house for his friend. Suddenly a blue color CBR snorted its way to him like a beast. Without exchanging words, he hopped in.

“It will not take long today it seems.” He shouted to beat the noise of the beast but his friend did not respond. After an hour they reached the location.

“OMG. My FB page is going to be flooded with likes.” he said and took out his phone. Keeping his phone in record mode and walked. The gadget devoured the sight before it like a gourmet. Floating sandals, dresses, drowned cars, immersed houses, uprooted trees.

“Where would have the inhabitants gone?” h ran ouis friend asked.

“Who cares? We’ll record this soon and go back. But what a stink. I will puke I gotta upload this first.” He said.  Suddenly something tickled his feet.

“Eeew… I think a frog just licked me. Yuck.” he jumped back to see a floating carcass of a goat. Feeling nauseated, he turned and walked but he stumbled upon something and fell into the stinky water face down into a human corpse. Frightened, he dragged himself and searched for his friend but he was nowhere to be seen. Stranded in the place, without a living soul around, he screamed in fear.

Sweat drops kissed his temple. He wiped his forehead and checked the time. 7.00 Am. He took his phone and called his friend.

“Dude, I’m not coming. You go.”Without waiting for a response, he disconnected the call.

    Hi Readers,

What I wrote might be fiction but there is a tinge of reality. There are folks in living in safer areas of Chennai, who go to visit the flood inflicted areas just to see the spot. To see ‘WATER’. To record it in their phones and upload it in their site to get maximum likes. Can you believe it ? Yesterday I met one of this sort. Yes, I am speaking the truth. Stark reality.

If you are one, please stop this. Don’t grab likes with others’ pain

  • Please don’t call her mother call 1098 Instead

The news which hit headlines recently uprooted the trees of the centuries-old belief that womanhood and motherhood is the paradigm of compassion. Recently a woman beat her 7 seven-year-old stepdaughters and broke her hands not once but several times. If that was not enough she inserted a sharp stick in her anus and due to the injury, her rectum and urinary bladder became a single sector. The cruelty came out after two years. The child’s mother had eloped with someone leaving her child behind. Abortion is considered a sin but it would have been better if she had ended the unfortunate life inside the womb itself. The child’s plight crushed my heart. I looked at my daughter. What will I do if someone did this to my daughter? Why wasn’t there anyone to call 1098.

    Are we aware of 1098?

About a month back we were astounded by the news of a Facebook page featuring minor girls for trafficking. If we believe the police’s version, the family behind this atrocity used their own child. This did not surprise me surprisingly. I prepared myself to hear the worst after the news of a father who raped his child repeatedly and sold her to the customers.
These are all just a peripheral part of reality. If we ponder, we will face a different world where precious motherhood and fatherhood become a joke.

    Child abuse 1098

Suppose a family decides to adopt a child to quench their unrelenting desire to pamper a child. They will have to toil their life to get past the formalities. The close monitoring of the child welfare team assures that the child is safe and sound in the hands of his/her surrogate parents. Who will monitor a child’s predicament in their own home? Who will make sure that they are safe?
We have committees and organizations that make sure that no one hurts stray dogs. But no one wants to take the pain to pester into the crevices of the brutal audacious reality faced by a child behind closed doors. No one cared to call 1098

Just because they donated sperm or egg, will they own the right to crush the zygote, which took a human form?

We have heard the stories of children who called the police and turned in their parents in foreign countries just because they scolded them. We might have said “what anarchy? How will we discipline a child without punishment?” But who sets the limit of punishments? Who will monitor the lives of these poor souls?

    child line 1098

There are parents who pamper their children and treat them as if they don’t belong to this planet. I would not concur with their policy as well. They are equally blamable for spoiling their child’s ability of discretion. Being a mother myself, these scenarios leave me wondering how I would channel my child’s thoughts and actions in the right way. Every child is different. Some can be corrected by telling stories, some can be corrected by sulking. Some by scolding, some by slight beating but what else could be done? We have seen awareness centers and counseling centers pop up like mushrooms in the monsoon. Why don’t we make sure that they get proper awareness from time to time to the parents as well as children?

If you cannot provide awareness, please ensure that they get protection. Please don’t turn blind eye to child abuse. Physical, Sexual, or psychological. If you come across something do react without giving it a second thought. If you don’t want to involve and if you want to live your life free of these hassles, at least call 1098. That poor girl suffered for years, let no other have a similar experience.
